Kenny Ortega Withdraws From Footloose Remake
Award-winning director Kenny Ortega has withdrawn from directing the new film version of Footloose, about a city boy who comes to a small town where dancing is forbidden, according to Variety.
The paper reports that Paramount is still planning to begin production on the film, which will star Chace Crawford and Julianne Hough, in Spring 2010. No new director has been named.
Footloose was originally filmed in 1984, with Kevin Bacon in the leading role, and was subsequently developed into a Broadway musical.
