Jennifer Hudson to Star in Musical Holiday Special for ABC

Oscar and Grammy Award winner Jennifer Hudson will star in an hour-long holiday music special this December, according to published reports. Jennifer Hudson: I’ll Be Home for Christmas will be seen on ABC at a date to be announced.
The holiday special will take viewers to the star’s hometown of Chicago. The special will feature musical performances at Hudson’s neighborhood church; the music academy she attended; and other Chicago sites.
Hudson first gained fame on American Idol and went on to win an Academy Award for her portrayal of Effie in the film version Dreamgirls. She has also appeared in the films of The Secret Life of Bees and Sex in the City. Her stage credits include concert versions of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas and Hair.
