Drama Critic Douglas Watt Dies at 95
Douglas Watt, the former theater critic for The Daily News, died on Tuesday in Southampton, Long Island. He was 95.
In addition to his work at the News, Watt was also a columnist for The New Yorker for many years. He was one of the co-founders of The Drama Desk, and had been chairperson of the Astaire Awards since their founding in 1980.
Watt was also a songwriters, and his tunes - including After All These Years" and "Heaven Help Me" -- were recorded by such vocalist as Doris Day and Frankie Laine.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel; two sons, Richard and James; two daughters, Patricia and Katherine, and eight grandchildren.
