David Cromer will direct a Broadway revival of William Inge’s Picnic, which is aiming to open Fall 2010 at a theater to be announced.

Inge’s Pulitzer Prize-winning drama originally opened in 1953, and was later adapted into an Academy Award-winning motion picture in 1955. In the play, a young drifter awakens a young woman’s desire and disrupts the quiet lives of a small Kansas community.

Cromer is currently represented in New York by the Broadway revivals of Neil Simon’s Brighton Beach Memoirs and Broadway Bound and the Off-Broadway production of Our Town.
