Chris Messina to Star in Devil Film

Chris Messina is set to star in Devil, a horror-thriller based on an M. Night Shyamalan story, according to a report in Variety. John Erick Dowdle and Drew Dowdle will direct the movie, which is scheduled to begin production in Toronto on October 26.

In the movie, written by Brian Nelson, Messina will reportedly play the lead role of a sobered-up homicide detective. Messina most recently starred in Julie and Julia and Vicky Cristina Barcelona.

The actor’s stage credits include Caryl Churchill’s Far Away at New York Theatre Workshop, Adam Rapp’s Faster at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, and Melanie Marnich’s Blur at Manhattan Theatre Club.
