Brits Off Broadway Announces Complete 2009 Line-Up

Brits Off Broadway has announced the full line-up for its 2009 festival, to play 59E59 Theaters, November 3-January 3.

As previously announced, Alan Ayckbourn will direct the U.S. premiere of his play, My Wonderful Day (November 11-December 13), about a child’s observations about the bizarre and increasingly frenetic comings and goings of adults in the weird household in which she finds herself. The work will star Ayesha Antoine, Terence Booth, Ruth Gibson, Paul Kemp, Petra Letang, and Alexandra Mathie.

Simon Green will return to the festival, December 15-January 3, with Traveling Light, an evening of cabaret featuring classic music from both classic and contemporary British lyricists and composers. Three-time Oliver Award nominees Fascinating Aida will also return with an evening of satirical musical comedy, Fascinating Aida is Absolutely Miraculous, December 16-January 3.

Additional programming in Brits Off Broadway will include Matt Wilkinson’s Red Sea Fish (November 3-22), directed by Frank McCabe and Matt Wilkinson and starring Tim Blissett, Janna Fox, and Matthew Houghton; Toby Davies’ Wolves at the Window (November 10-December 6), directed by Thomas Hescott, and featuring Jeremy Booth, Gus Brown, Anna Francolini, and Sarah Moyle; Merrick, the Elephant Man (November 24-December 13), devised and written by Mary Swan and Saul Jaffé, directed by Swan, and starring Jaffé; and A British Subject (December 9-January 3), written by Nichola McAuliffe, directed by Hannah Eidinow, and starring Tom Cotcher, Kulvinder Ghir, and Nichola McAuliffe.
