David Lindsay-Abaire, who won a Pulitzer Prize for Rabbit Hole and is the co-author of the upcoming Broadway musical Shrek is in final negotiations to write the Spider-Man 4 film for Columbia, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

. Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire are back as the sequel's director and star, respectively. and Kirsten Dunst is expected to reprise her role as Mary Jane, according to the paper.

Lindsay-Abaire's other plays include Fuddy Meers, Kimberly Akimbo, and Wonder of the World, and he wrote the book for the musical High Fidelity. He wrote the screenplay for the upcoming film Inkheart and is also adapting Rabbit Hole for Oscar winner Nicole Kidman.
