Daniel J. Travanti and Ellen Crawford to Star in A Touch of the Poet

Daniel J. Travanti and Ellen Crawford will lead a cast of ten in Friendly Fire’s revival of Eugene O’Neill’s A Touch of the Poet, according to the company’s website. The production will play the 14th St. Theater, December 2-20. Alex Lippard will direct. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.

The play is set in a rundown inn near Boston in the 1820s, and centers around Con Melody, once a landed gentleman in Ireland, now an innkeeper in America who has fallen upon hard times.

Travanti, who will play Con Melody, is best known for his Emmy-winning role of Captain Frank Furillo in TV’s Hill Street Blues. His theater credits include The Last Word…, All My Sons, The Guys, and Rhinoceros. Crawford, who will portray Nora Melody, is best known for her role of Nurse Lydia Wright on ER. Her theater credits include Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
