On Friday, October 12, the Broadway revival of Cyrano de Bergerac began previews at the Richard Rodgers Theater. After the performance, star Jennifer Garner — who’s making her Main Stem debut as Roxane — came out to greet the fans.
On hand for the big event were Garner’s equally celebrated husband, actor Ben Affleck — whose film directorial debut, Gone Baby Gone, opens this Friday…
…and the gorgeous Angie Harmon, star of the new ABC-TV series Women’s Murder Club.
On Sunday, October 14, the New York Times sponsored its third annual Great Read. The many celebrity participants included Oscar winner Julie Andrews, Emmy Award winner Mariska Hargitay, and Andrews’ daughter Emma Walton Hamilton, who has written many children’s books with her mother…
…and the great actor Alan Alda, whose new book Things I Overheard While Talking to Myself has recently been published.
On Monday night, Tony Award winner Brian Stokes Mitchell made his solo Carnegie Hall debut at a special concert to benefit The Actors’ Fund, of which he is president. Here’s the star at the concert’s after-party at the Russian Tea Room with his lovely and talented wife, Allyson Tucker.
A host of luminaries shared the stage with Stokes, including Tony Award winner Phylicia Rashad, who joined her former Jelly’s Last Jam co-star for their big number from the show, “Last Chance Blues”…
…the fabulous Nikki Renee Daniels (right) — pictured here with actress Tamara Tunie — who flew in from Los Angeles to sing a duet from Porgy & Bess…
…and Xanadu‘s hunky Cheyenne Jackson, who joined the Broadway Inspirational Voices for the evening’s finale “Grateful.”
Here’s “Grateful” composer John Bucchino (left) — whose much-anticipated new musical A Catered Affair will open on Broadway in April — with fellow music man John McDaniel.
The concert was also attended by many of the acting world’s greatest leading ladies, including Chita Rivera — who debuts a new cabaret act at Feinstein’s at the Regency on November 6 — with daughter Lisa Mordente…
…the fabulous Donna McKechnie…
…the wonderful Marion Ross, best known for TV’s Happy Days…
…the always glamorous Michele Lee…
…and the one and only Betty Buckley — showing off her new Playbill Records release Betty Buckley 1967 — with her pal, producer Richard Jay-Alexander, who directed Stokes’ concert. You can hear Buckley live on Saturday, October 20 as part of The Broadway/Cabaret Festival at The Town Hall.
