Pauline Collins to Co-Star in Old Vic’s Cinderella

Pauline Collins, who starred in the title role of the West End, Broadway and film versions of the hit play Shirley Valentine, will star as the Fairy Godmother in the world premiere of Stephen Fry’s new version of Cinderella, to play the Old Vic, December 4-January 20.

The production will be directed by Fiona Laird, and feature songs by Academy Award winner Anne Dudley. It will be designed by Stephen Brimson-Lewis and choreographed by Francesca Jaynes, with lighting by Tim Mitchell, musical supervision by Neil McArthur, orchestrations by Steven Edis and Neil McArthur, musical direction by Michael Haslam, and sound by Nick Lidster and Terry Jardine for Autograph.

The cast will include Sandi Toksvig as the Narrator, Madeleine Worrall as Cinderella, Joseph Millson as Prince Charming, Paul Keating as Buttons, Debbie Chazen as the Queen, and Hal Fowler and Mark Lockyer as the Ugly Sisters.

In addition to her work in Shirley Valentine, for which she won the Olivier Award, a BAFTA Film Award, and an Academy Award nomination, Collins is known for her work in such TV series as Upstairs, Downstairs, The Ambassadors and Bleak House, as well as the films City of Joy, Paradise Road and Fierce Creatures. Her other stage credits including The Importance of Being Earnest, Rattle of a Simple Man, Shades, and Going Straight.
