Chicago’s Northlight Theatre has announced the preliminary line-up for its Interplay series of readings. Each play is followed by a post-show discussion with the audience. Readings begin at 7:30pm.

The series begins on Monday, October 22 with George Takei, best known for his work on Star Trek and Heroes, and France Nuyen starring in Kenneth Lin’s Po Boy Tango, directed by BJ Jones. The play concerns two lonely souls who find comfort and friendship through the exchange of food.

On Monday, December 17, Jones directs Tony Award winner John Mahoney, best known for his work on Frasier, and Chicago favorite Mike Nussbaum in Better Late, a new romantic comedy by Larry Gelbart and Craig Wright.

The series continues on Monday, February 25 with Laura Maria Censabella’s Three Italian Women, directed by Brendan Fox, and on Monday, April 21 with Lisa Dillman’s Ground (A Play About Borders), set in a small New Mexico community, also directed by Jones. A fifth play, to be read on Monday, June 9, will be announced shortly.
