Noah Bean, Francis Jue, Julienne Hanzelka Kim, Kathryn Layng, Hoon Lee, Lucas Caleb Rooney, and Anthony Torn will star in the Public Theater’s production of David Henry Hwang’s satire Yellow Face, November 19-December 23. The production, which will open officially on December 10, will be directed by Leigh Silverman.

Yellow Face is a co-production with L.A.’s Center Theatre Group, which produced it earlier this year. The play takes its inspiration from Hwang’s part in the controversy of the hiring of actor Jonathan Pryce to play a Eurasian in the Broadway musical Miss Saigon. Hwang is the author of such works as M. Butterfly, Golden Child, Face Value, and the book for the Broadway revisal of Flower Drum Song.

The production team includes David Korins (sets), Myung Hee Cho (costumes), Donald Holder (lighting), and Darron L. West (sound). Silverman’s many directorial credits include Well, The Treatment, and Blue Door. She is currently represented Off-Broadway by The Beebo Brinker Chronicles.
