Veanne Cox and Christopher Innvar will headline the Washington D.C.-based Shakespeare Theatre Company’s world premiere adaptation of George Farquhar’s The Beaux’ Strategem, November 7-December 31.

Michael Kahn will direct the production. The adaptation was started by Thornton Wilder in 1938 and later finished by Ken Ludwig. The cast will also include Christian Conn, Julia Coffey, Floyd King, and Nancy Robinette.

The play focuses on two poor Englishmen, Jack Archer and Tom Aimwell, who arrive in a small English village where they plan to seduce and marry two wealthy women. So Tom and Jack plot to expose the robbers and win the women’s hands in the process.

Cox is a Tony Award nominee for her performance as Amy in the Roundabout Theatre Company’s revival of Company. Innvar was recently seen on Broadway in the Roundabout’s revival of The Threepenny Opera and the Barrington Stage Company’s production of Ring Round the Moon.
