Mary Faber will join co-author David Cale in the Playwrights Horizons production of the musical Floyd and Clea Under the Western Sky, November 10-December 17. The production, to be directed by Joe Calarco, will open officially on December 5.

The show, which has book and lyrics by Cale and a score by Cale and Jonathan Kreisberg, tells the story of Floyd, a former Country & Western star, who joins up with a 20-year-old free spirit with an electrifying voice. Cale’s other work includes Lillian, for which he received an Obie Award, A Likely Story, and Deep in a Dream of You. Kreisberg, who will also be the show’s music director and orchestrator, has played with many of the world’s great jazz musicians. He can be found on Wednesday nights at La Lanterna in Greenwich Village.

The show’s creative team includes David Korins (sets), Anne Kennedy (costumes), Chris Lee (lighting), and Ken Travis (sound). Calarco’s directing credits include Shakespeare’s R&J, and three works by Julia Jordan: Boy, Sarah, Plain and Tall, and Summer of the Swans.

Faber is currently starring on Broadway in Avenue Q as Kate Monster and Lucy T. Slut. Her Off-Broadway credits include Slut, Junie B. Jones, and The Tutor, and she appeared in The Actors’ Fund Benefit Concert of Hair.
