Larry Pine and Angelica Torn will headline a staged reading of Jean Genet’s controversial play The Balcony at 7pm on Sunday, November 5 at Makor (35 West 67th Street). The reading will directed by Stephan Morrow and will co-star Larry Block, Bob Heller, Bob Sonderskov, Alexander Eitel, Cristina Doikos, Elizabeth DeSantis, and Ronald Rand.

The Balcony follows the delusional patrons of a brothel as they unwittingly become involved in a revolution. The work was produced Off-Broadway at the downtown Circle-in-the-Square in 1960, with a cast that included Nancy Marchand and Salome Jens, and in 1977 at Classic Stage Company.

Among Pine’s many Broadway credits are Bus Stop, Angels in America, and Joe Egg; he has also starred Off-Broadway in more than two dozen plays, including Stuff Happens, The Seagull, and Vanya on 42nd Street. Torn has appeared on Broadway in Side Man; her Off-Broadway credits include Edge and The Red Devil Battery Sign.

Tickets to the reading are priced at $15 and can be ordered by calling 212-601-1000 or visiting www.makor.org.
