A 40-city tour of High School Musical: The Concert, featuring the stars and songs of the hit Disney TV movie High School Musical, will begin on November 30 in San Diego and will conclude on January 28, 2007 in Las Vegas, according to published reports.

Among cast members of the film to be featured in the concert are Monique Coleman, Lucas Grabeel, Corbin Bleu, Ashley Tisdale, and Vanessa Hudgens. They will be joined by Drew Seeley, who co-wrote “Get’cha Head in the Game” and sang on the film’s soundtrack. Coleman is currently featured on ABC’s ‘Dancing with the Stars, which ends on November 15. Zac Efron, who played Troy in the film, will not participate in the tour because he is working on the movie version of Hairspray, in which he plays Link Larkin.

Kenny Ortega, the Emmy Award-winning director and choreographer of the High School Musical film, is the creative director for the concert tour. Since its premiere on January 20 on the Disney Channel, High School Musical has been been seen by tens of millions of viewers. By the end of this year, it will have been televised in 100 countries worldwide. The film yielded a triple-platinum selling soundtrack recording, and the DVD has sold well over 2.3 million copies. A sequel to the movie is planned.

The tour will include major cities in Arizona, California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Texas, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, New York, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Missouri, Illinois, and Wisconsin, as well as Washington, D.C. and Toronto. Details will be announced shortly.
