Full Cast, Creative Team Set for Arena Stage’s She Loves Me

The cast and creative team for the Arena Stage production of She Loves Me has been announced. The classic Jerry Bock-Sheldon Harnick-Joe Masteroff musical is scheduled to run November 17-December 31 and to open officially on November 28. It will be directed by Kyle Donnelly, with choreography by Kenneth Lee Roberson and musical direction by William Foster McDaniel.

The cast is headed by Kevin Kraft (George), Brynn O’Malley (Amalia), Sebastian La Cause (Kodaly), Nancy Lemenager (Ilona), Jim Corti (Ladislav), Hal Robinson (Mr. Maraczek), Clifton Guterman (Arpad), and J. Fred Shiffman (Headwaiter). Jennifer Andersen, Kurt Boehm, Rosalie Tenseth, Joe Jackson, Ashlee Fife, Gia Mora, and Jeremy Leiner make up the ensemble.

The creative team includes Kate Edmunds (sets), Nan Cibula-Jenkins (costumes), Nancy Schertler (lighting), and Garth Hemphill (sound). Donnelly recently directed the Ford’s Theatre production of State of the Union and the Arena Stage production of Born Yesterday.

Based on the Hungarian play Parfumerie, the musical focuses on a pair of warring shop clerks who don’t realize that they’ve been writing anonymous love letters to each other. She Loves Me has been seen twice on Broadway, in 1963 and 1993. In addition, the source material has been used for three films:The Shop Around the Corner, In the Good Old Summertime, and You’ve Got Mail.
