On November 1, Jai Rodriguez — a past star of Broadway’s Rent and Off-Broadway’s Zanna, Don’t, and a current star of TV’s Queer Eye for the Straight Guy — will succeed Brad Musgrove as Carmen Ghia in The Producers. Rodriguez also has a small role in the film version of the musical, due out later this year.

In related news, John Treacy Egan, who has played Franz Liebkind in the Broadway production since 2002, will take over the leading role of Max Bialystock on October 25 from the departing Brad Oscar (who is set to play Applegate in the Arena Stage’s Damn Yankees in December). Egan’s other New York credits include Jekyll & Hyde, Bat Boy, and When Pigs Fly.

The Producers currently stars Hunter Foster as Leo, Gary Beach as Roger, Bill Nolte as Franz, and Angie Schworer as Ulla. The show originally opened on April 19, 2001 and won 12 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
