The 1980 Off-Broadway hit Sister and Miss Lexie, adapted by David Kaplan and Brenda Currin from the work of the legendary author Eudora Welty, will have a 25th anniversary production at the Flea Theater from October 27 through December 20. The official opening is scheduled for November 3.

The show will be directed and designed by Kaplan; it will star Currin and pianist Ayako Morino. Featuring music by Beethoven, Sister and Miss Lexie draws on the characters from Welty’s novel Losing Battles and her classic short story “Why I Live at the P.O.” Sister and Miss Lexie was revived in New York by Second Stage in 1985; Welty died in 2001.

Currin won an Obie Award for her performance in My Sister in This House and has appeared on stage in Vienna: Lusthaus, Threepenny Opera, Museum, and The Art of Dining. Kaplan’s New York credits include the CSC production of The Maids; he is also the curator for Provincetown’s 2006 Tennessee Williams Festival.
