Douglas, Fuller, Williamson to Appear in O’Neill Series at Birdland

Ruth Williamson, Suzzanne Douglas, and Penny Fuller will appear at Birdland (315 West 44th Street) next month in a series titled Highlights from the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center’s 2005 Cabaret and Performance Conference.

On Tuesday, November 1 at 7pm, Williamson will star in Pure Heaven: The Music of Kay Thompson, a tribute to the legendary film actress, nightclub performer, and music arranger. The evening will feature a guest appearance by Brent Winborn and will be directed by Michael Bush, with musical direction by Dana P. Rowe and musical supervision by Joel Silberman. Williamson, who has appeared on Broadway in La Cage aux Folles and The Music Man, will be seen in the upcoming Los Angeles production of White Christmas.

Douglas will star in Lucky to Be Me, celebrating the music and life of jazz great Abbey Lincoln, on Tuesday, November 15 at 7pm. The evening will feature a guest appearance by Jim Speake and will be directed by Ted Sod, with musical direction by Dr. Guy Ramsey. Douglas is currently starring in the Paper Mill Playhouse production of Cinderella.

Concluding the series on Tuesday, November 22 at 7pm will be An Evening with Penny Fuller, starring the Tony-nominated actress. The show will include a guest appearance by Nancy Lee Bach and will be directed by Barry Kleinbort, with musical direction by David Gaines. Fuller’s many stage credits include Cabaret, Applause, The Dinner Party, A New Brain, and Five by Tenn.
