Arthur, Chalfant, Lithgow, Nixon, Seldes, et al. to Appear at Symphony Space

A special benefit performance of Bea Arthur: Back on Broadway and a 12-hour reading marathon featuring a host of Broadway celebrities are upcoming at Symphony Space, located at Broadway and 95th Street.

The Book That Changed My Life, slated for Saturday, October 22 from 11am-11pm, will feature over 30 celebrities discussing the books that influenced their lives and reading excerpts from those works. Participants will include Kate Burton, Kathleen Chalfant, Charlotte d’Amboise, Oskar Eustis, John Lithgow, Cynthia Nixon, Amy Sedaris, Marian Seldes, and Richard Thomas.

On November 21 at 8pm, Bea Arthur and musical director Billy Goldenberg will bring back their Tony Award-nominated show as a benefit for the Ali Forney Center, which provides emergency housing to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered youth. Arthur is best known for her appearances in the original Broadway productions of Fiddler on the Roof and Mame (for which she won a Tony) as well as for her Emmy Award-winning work on the TV series Maude and The Golden Girls.
