More Details of Tribeca Theater Festival Announced

It has been announced that Ethan Hawke, Bob Balaban, Michael Kahn, Celeste Holm, and Neil LaBute will participate in various programs within the Tribeca Theater Festival, which is scheduled to run from Tuesday, October 19 through Sunday, October 31. The festival will feature panel discussions, free public readings of works in progress, the “Stage on Screen” series, “The Downtown Plays” (an evening of premieres or works by some of the theater’s leading playwrights), and the “All Access Open Stage” program (focusing on works by playwrights of color).

The panel discussions will be held at the Tribeca Cinemas (54 Varick Street) and will cover such subjects as Tennessee Williams, Neil LaBute, and Off-Broadway. The series of free readings, also at the Tribeca Cinemas, will showcase new plays by Anne Washburn, Zina Cablin, Daniel Voll, Nicole Burdette, Sandra Hochman and Ted Danielak, Megan Mostyn-Brown, and Rich Orloff and John Spalla. The “Stage on Screen” series will include screenings of Waiting for Guffman, A Streetcar Named Desire, All About Eve, and Broadway: The Golden Age.

“The Downtown Plays” program at the Michael Schimmel Center at Pace University will feature short works by such playwrights as Jon Robin Baitz, Douglas Carter Beane, David Henry Hwang, Neil LaBute, Warren Leight, Kenneth Lonergan, Frank Pugliese, Paul Rudnick, and Wendy Wasserstein, directed by John Rando. The cast will include Joel de la Fuente, Ross Gibby, Josh Hamilton, Jackie Hoffman, Peter Jacobson, Chris Messina, J. Smith-Cameron, Marilyn Torres, and Maria Tucci.
