Jarrod Emick, originally announced for the lead role of Chad in the world premiere production of All Shook Up, will not be playing the part after all because final contract terms could not be agreed upon; Cheyenne Jackson, who had been hired as Emick's understudy, will assume the role. All Shook Up is scheduled to open at Broadway's Palace Theatre on March 25, 2005 after a tryout run in Chicago beginning on December 19.
According to the show's lead producer, Jonathan Pollard, "Both the producers of All Shook Up and Jarrod Emick's representatives believed a deal would be made; however, in the end we simply could not agree on the terms. The entire production team regrets that Jarrod won't be with us, as we have great respect for his ability and wish him well. We also feel incredibly fortunate that we didn't have to look very far for his successor."
Jackson, who recently appeared in the New York Musical Theatre Festival production of Altar Boyz, has been seen on Broadway in Aida and Thoroughly Modern Millie. The cast of All Shook Up, which features the songs of Elvis Presley and has a book by Joe DiPietro and direction by Christopher Ashley, also includes Jenn Gambatese, Jonathan Hadary, Leah Hocking, Curtis Holbrook, Nikki M. James, John Jellison, Alix Korey, Mark Price, and Sharon Wilkins.
