Revelation Theater may not have a permanent home yet, but the group’s inaugural production is set to open on November 17 in its present home at the Women’s Project Theatre, located at 424 West 55th Street. Inspired by the true story of a Midwestern couple convicted of killing their hired hands, Temporary Help will star Chad Allen (TV’s Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman), Margaret Colin (Jackie), and Robert Cuccioli (Jekyll and Hyde.)

David Wiltse’s thriller tells the tale of a handsome yet mysterious drifter (Allen) who is hired to work on a ranch in Nebraska. The situation turns from sinister to terrifying as the stranger becomes caught in a triangle of love and deceit with the rancher’s wife (Colin) and her abusive husband (Cuccioli.) Leslie Smith, artistic director for Revelation Theater, will direct this New York premiere.

Temporary Help is the first of three productions in Revelation Theater’s 2002/2003 season; the remaining shows will be presented in the company’s new home at 334 West 39th Street after the doors open there in January 2003. The theater aims to stage works not yet presented in major New York venues, to tell stories of forgotten individuals who impacted history, and to showcase characters hurt by the inequalities of society.
