Tony Award winner and six-time Emmy Award winner Tyne Daly will be the subject of the next Oral History Project interview to be videotaped for the Theatre on Film and Tape Archive. Presented by Betty R. and Ralph Sheffer in collaboration with the League of Professional Theatre Women, the interview will take place at 6pm on Monday, October 7, at the Bruno Walter Auditorium of the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. Actor and producer John V. Fahey, a personal friend of Daly’s, will conduct the interview. Admission is free but attendees will be seated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Tyne Daly’s career in theater, television, and film spans more than five decades. In 1967, she made her Broadway debut in Frank D. Gilroy’s That Summer — That Fall. She earned a Tony Award for her performances as Mama Rose in the 1990 production of Gypsy and earned another Tony nomination in 2006 for her performance in David Lindsay-Abaire’s Rabbit Hole. Her most recent Broadway appearance was in the 2011 revival of Master Class. She will return to Broadway this spring as Katherine Gerard in Terrence McNally’s new play Mothers and Sons. She is known to television audiences as Mary Beth Lacey from Cagney and Lacey, a role that earned her six Emmy nominations and four Emmy Awards. Daly also starred in the CBS drama Judging Amy from 1999-2005, picking up an additional six Emmy nominations and one award.

The Oral History Project’s producer, Betty Corwin, commented, “Tyne is a wonderful actress and an outstanding musical performer. Having her express her thoughts and recollections about her life and career on videotape will be a valuable addition to the Theatre on Film and Tape Archive.”

Previous Oral History interviewees include Tony Award-winning actresses Patti LuPone, Christine Ebersole, and Donna Murphy.
