Tovah Feldshuh Will Permanently Replace Andrea Martin in Broadway’s Pippin
Four-time Tony Award nominee Tovah Feldshuh, who played the role of Berthe in the current Broadway revival of Pippin during Andrea Martin’s vacation last month, will assume the role full-time beginning Tuesday, September 24, at the Music Box Theatre. As previously announced, Martin, who won Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her performance, will depart the musical revival on September 22.
Currently running at the Music Box Theatre, Pippin melds Stephen Schwartz and Roger O. Hirson’s classic coming-of-age musical with the death-defying tricks of contemporary circus. Directed by Diane Paulus, choreographed by Chet Walker in the style of Bob Fosse, and featuring circus creations by Gypsy Snider of Les 7 doigts de la main, the production stars 2013 Tony winner Patina Miller, Matthew James Thomas, Terrence Mann, Charlotte d’Amboise, Rachel Bay Jones, and Erik Altemus.
