New York Theatre Workshop has announced that Jeremy Blocker has been selected to take over the position of managing director, taking over for William Russo. Russo is now the managing director at American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Fred Walker has been serving as NYTW's managing director in the interim.

Blocker comes to NYTW from Ars Nova, where he helped establish a framework that serves hundreds of artists each year. He holds an MFA in theater management from Columbia University's School of the Arts.

"I am eagerly anticipating the start of this new partnership," said Artistic Director James C. Nicola in a statement. "Jeremy's perspective and creativity will help NYTW move forward into the heart of the 21st century with a renewed vigor."

New York Theatre Workshop serves as an incubator for new theater as it explores perspectives of our collective history and responds to the events and institutions that shape our lives. The company also stages innovative adaptations of classic repertory.
