On September 15, 2011, the Tony Award-winning musical Newsies first opened its doors at Millburn, New Jersey’s Paper Mill Playhouse for its limited regional run. Two years later, the production is still going strong on Broadway, and it has become one of Disney’s greatest theatrical successes. In honor of this upcoming second anniversary of performances, Newsies will celebrate Newsies Fan Week in honor of the fans (or “Fansies” as they call themselves) who have helped make the show a success over the past two years.

Throughout Newsies Fan Week, which takes place from September 15-21, the cast will release new videos and other “re-imagined favorites” each day. The week will conclude with a Newsies live chat to be held at 6pm on Saturday, September 21, via Twitter, where Fansies can submit their own questions.

Featuring a Tony Award-winning score by Jack Feldman and Alan Menken, a Tony-nominated book by Harvey Fierstein, and Tony Award-winning choreography by Christopher Gattelli, Newsies has been running on Broadway at the Nederlander Theatre since March 29, 2012. Based on the 1992 Disney film starring Christian Bale, the story follows a group of newsboys, led by Jack Kelly, during New York City’s Newsboys Strike of 1899. The cast currently stars Corey Cott as Jack Kelly and original cast members Kara Lindsay and Ben Fankhauser as Katherine and Davey.
