CSC Finds Its Romeo! Complete Casting Announced for Classic Stage Company’s Romeo and Juliet, Starring Elizabeth Olsen

The Nanny‘s Daniel Davis will replace William Hurt as Friar Laurence.

Classic Stage Company has announced the remainder of the cast who will join leading lady Elizabeth Olsen in the upcoming production of Romeo and Juliet that will kick off the company’s 2013-14 season.

Leading the cast opposite Olsen in the title role of Romeo will be Julian Cihi, a recent graduate of the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU. His prior credits include Williamstwon Theatre productions of The Importance of Being Earnest and A Month in the Country, and a recent turn as Roger in the Japanese tour of the hit Jonathan Larson musical Rent.

Previously announced Emmy Award nominee T.R. Knight (Mercutio) and Tony Award nominee Daphne Rubin-Vega (Nurse) will be joined by Daniel Davis, best known for his longtime role as Niles in the ’90s sitcom The Nanny. Davis replaces the previously announced William Hurt in the role of Friar Laurence. Joining them will be McKinley Belcher III (Twelfth Night) as Benvolio, Stan Demidoff as Paris/Sampson, Harry Ford as Gregory/Friar John/Watchman, David Garrison (Silence!) as Capulet, Anthony Michael Martinez as Prince, Kathryn Meisle (A Touch of the Poet) as Lady Capulet, Dion Mucciacito (Golden Boy) as Tybalt, and John Rothman (The Devil Wears Prada) as Montague/Apothecary.

Directed by Tea Alagić (Jackie), the creative team features set design by Marsha Ginsberg, costumes by Clint Ramos, lighting by Jason Lyons, and sound by Ryan Rumery.

Performances are scheduled to begin on September 27 in advance of an October 16 opening and will run through November 3.
