Works by Craig Lucas, Nicky Silver Part of Vineyard’s 30th Anniversary Celebration

The Vineyard Theatre has laid out the plans for its 2012-2013 season.

To celebrate the organization’s 30th anniversary, the theater will present one-night-only readings of acclaimed plays from its past, some reuniting their original casts.

The first four readings include: Fully Committed by Becky Mode, with original star Mark Setlock (November 12); Nicky Silver’s Pterodactyls (December 10); A Boy and His Soul, written and performed by Colman Domingo (January 7); and Craig Lucas’ The Dying Gaul (Winter 2013). Additional reunion readings will be announced at a later date.

As previously reported, the season will kick off with the world premiere of Douglas McGrath’s Checkers, starring Anthony LaPaglia and Kathryn Erbe, and directed by Terry Kinney. Performances begin October 12.

Mainstage shows — with dates to be announced — will also include Rajiv Joseph‘s The North Pool, directed by Giovanna Sardelli and the world premiere of Jenny Schwartz’s Somewhere Fun, directed by Anne Kauffman.

The Vineyard will also present a developmental workshop of Gloria, a new play by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins (January 17-21, 2013), as well as a special reading of a brand-new work by Nicky Silver (dates TBA). Both of these will be open to the Vineyard’s members. The theater is also developing and presenting a new work by Erika Sheffer, who is in residence for the season as winner of the 2012 Paula Vogel Playwriting Award.
