Tony Award winner Michael Cerveris, currently starring in the Broadway production of Evita, will make a special appearance with his indie band Loose Cattle during TheaterMania's free concert at the 37th Annual Third Avenue Community Benefit Street Fair, on Sunday, September 9.
The Manhattan Chamber of Commerce is dedicating an entire city block, between 74th and 75th Streets on Third Avenue, to TheaterMania.com to celebrate New York City Theater during the fair. Performers from Broadway, Off-Broadway, Dance, Music, and Children's Theater will be featured in TheaterMania's free concert, between 1pm and 4pm.
In addition to Loose Cattle -- which has Cerveris on acoustic guitar and vocals, Kimberly Kaye on vocals, Gabriel Caplan on electric guitar, Justin Smith on fiddle, and Eddy Zweiback on drums -- scheduled acts include Broadway veteran William Michals, singer-songwriter Christine Lavin, performers from the shows Forbidden Broadway and Berenstain Bears LIVE!, Opera On Tap, Rock Star Karaoke, and Little Orchestra Society.
The fair itself will run noon to 5pm. The block will also feature fun-filled attractions such as contests, interactive games, special offers, giveaways and insider information about the latest happenings on the New York City theater and performing arts scene.
Participating shows that will be represented on the block include The Lion King, Mary Poppins, Peter and the Starcatcher, Mamma Mia!, Nice Work If You Can Get It, Chaplin, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, War Horse, Blue Man Group, Once the Musical, and The Awesome 80s Prom.
Theaters who will participate include Roundabout Theatre Company, New Victory Theatre, Signature Theatre, New York Theatre Workshop, The Vineyard Theater, NYU Skirball Center, The York Theatre, TADA! Youth Theater, The Irish Arts Center, and The Flea Theater.
