The musical, by Tony Award nominees Jeanine Tesori and Lisa Kron, draws upon Bechdel's own life, particularly her bond with her father, who operated a funeral home. Sam Gold directs.

As previously announced, the production will star Beth Malone as Alison, and feature Roberta Colindrez (Joan), Judy Kuhn (Helen), and Joel Perez (Roy). Also newly added to the company are Griffin Birney, Sydney Lucas and Noah Marlowe.

The creative team includes David Zinn (scenic and costume design), Ben Stanton (lighting design), Kai Harada (sound design), Jim Findlay and Jeff Sugg (video design), Andy Einhorn (musical direction), and David Neumann (choreography).
