Director-choreographer Jerry Mitchell will receive the TRU Humanitarian Award at Theater Resources Unlimited's annual TRU Love Benefit. Entitled Making the Impossible Possible!, the event will be held at the brand new midtown Lucky Cheng's (240 W. 52nd Street), on Sunday November 11 beginning at Noon.
Mitchell, who will be represented this season with upcoming Harvey Fierstein-Cyndi Lauper musical Kinky Boots, is being recognized "for his selfless work and passionate, generous spirit as the creator of Broadway Bares, raising money for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS."
Honorees will also include producer Van Dean of the Broadway Consortium, and downtown entrepreneur Edith O'Hara in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the 13th Street Repertory.
Proceeds from this event directly benefit the programs of Theater Resources Unlimited, a not-for-profit service organization that educates people in the business of the arts, with a focus on producers, emerging theater companies and self-producing artists.
