Drag Sensation Coco Peru to Play Laurie Beechman Theatre in October

Award-winning drag sensation Coco Peru returns to NYC with the New York premiere of Miss Coco Peru: She’s Got Balls, written and performed by Clinton Leupp. Performances run October 18 — 21 at the Laurie Beechman Theatre.

In the piece, Coco Peru reflects on her early childhood dreams of being a stripper, why she left her beloved hometown of NYC, and her summers spent on a clothing-optional beach with her husband, Rafael (he’s from Spain). Inspired by her mother Helen’s advice to have the balls to say whatever the hell she feels like saying, Coco is on a quest to do just that and, in the process, make the world just a little more beautiful.

Storyteller/monologist Miss Coco Peru aka Clinton Leupp grew up in the Bronx on City Island and got his/her start as a downtown favorite in the cabaret world of NYC after he wrote, produced, directed, and starred in his first show Miss Coco Peru in My Goddamn Cabaret in the early 90’s.
