Arlene Dahl, Chita Rivera, Charles Strouse, Tommy Tune Named as Mayor’s Spotlight Award Winners

The first annual Spotlight Award winners have been named by the mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment, according to The New York Times.

Recipients include former MGM star Arlene Dahl; general manager Nina Lannan; International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees president Matthew D. Loeb; Nederlander Organization chairman James D. Nederlander; Chita Rivera, who is returning to Broadway this season in The Mystery of Edwin Drood; composer Charles Strouse, whose Annie is back on The Great White Way this season; legendary actor/director/choreographer Tommy Tune; Actors’ Equity Association president Nick Wyman.

The official announcement of the award winners will be made at the Broadway on Broadway concert this Sunday, September 9.

The Times also reports that the mayor’s office and the Broadway League are underwriting a video series tracing the history of Broadway’s 40 theaters, which will be viewable at SpotlightOnBroadway.com.
