Radha Blank, currently represented Off-Broadway by her play Seed, is the recipient of the 2011 Helen Merrill Award For Playwrighting, which was presented to her in a ceremony at the Algonquin Hotel in New York City on September 26.

The award is administered by the Helen Merrill Fund in The New York Community Trust, which was established by Helen Merrill, a theatrical agent who devoted her life to nurturing the careers of playwrights.

In addition to Seed, Blank’s plays include American Schemes, HappyFlowerNail, nannyland, Reverb, Kenya, and Casket Sharp. Other honors that she has received include the New York Foundation for the Arts Artist Fellowship, The Nickelodeon Writer’s Fellowship, and The Public Theater’s inaugural Emerging Writer’s Group.
