Two-time Tony Award nominee André De Shields visited the company of Jeff Cohen’s The Man Who Ate Michael Rockefeller on Sunday, September 26. The show, playing the West End Theatre through October 3, is directed by Alfred Preisser and choreographed by Tracy Jack, with whom De Shields collaborated on Archbishop Supreme Tartuffe.

The Man Who Ate Michael Rockefeller is adapted from a short story by Christopher Stokes, and focuses on the case of a man, who in 1961, disappeared among the Asmat People of Papua, New Guinea. He was never heard from again. The play images what might have happened to its title character, as told by the Asmat people.

The company features David Brown, Jr., Shannon A. L. Dorsey, Tracy Jack, David King, Sean Lum, Tyshawna Maddox, Daniel Morgan Shelley, Aaron Strand, and Rawle Fitz Williams.

The creative team includes scenic designer Heather Wolensky, costume designer Kimberly Glennon, lighting designer by Jay Scott, and sound designer Katie Hong.
