Kerry Butler, Deidre Goodwin, Liz McCartney, Anthony Rapp, et al. Set for 2010 NYMF Shows; Tickets Now On Sale

Preliminary casting has been announced for several shows in the 2010 New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF), which will run September 27-October 17. The festival will feature 27 musical productions, a developmental reading series and special events. Tickets to the general public went on sale today, September 1.

As previously reported, Anthony Rapp will star in his one-man musical, Without You, based on his bestseller, Without You: A Memoir of Love, Loss, and the Musical Rent, featuring music by John Keaney, David Matos, Joe Pisapia, and Rapp; along with songs from Rent, with music and lyrics by Jonathan Larson. Steve Maler will direct.

Tony Award nominee Kerry Butler stars alongside Deidre Goodwin, James Patrick Stuart, and Tom McGowan in Pandora’s Box, featuring music and lyrics by Glen Roven, and a book by Maria S. Schlatter. Gary Halvorson and Wayne Cilento will direct this musical play, about a suburban housewife and her serial-philanderer husband who have their love and lives turned upside down the day that Mona, a lesbian handy-woman, walks through their door.

Liz McCartney, who has starred in such Broadway musicals as Taboo and South Pacific, will join Matt Dengler and Jacob Hoffman in Nighttime Traffic, featuring music, lyrics and book by Alex Wyse. Michael Lluberes will direct this musical, in which Max and his boyfriend, Calder, find themselves in a hospital awaiting Calder’s heart transplant, and a nurse supplies them with a mind-altering pill that slows time, turning one minute into one hour.

Broadway veterans Erik Liberman and Michelle Pruiett star in The Most Ridiculous Thing You Ever Hoid, a satirical Marx Brothers musical romp with music by Jim Beckerman, lyrics by Jim Beckerman and Andy Seiler, and a book by Seiler, Beckerman and Fred Wemyss. Donald Brenner will direct the production, which will also feature Jared Miller, Jonathan Randell Silver, Liliane Klein, Ashley Fox Linton, Warren Freeman, and John Fico.

Jay Alan Zimmerman’s Incredibly Deaf Musical, described as a wild pop-rock-rap-dance-classical-disco-experimental-sign language-multimedia mash up, will star Broadway veteran Paul Amodeo as Jay, along with Jason Reiff, Pierce Gidez, Amber Harris, Casey Erin Clark, Howard Kaye and Tiffan Borelli. The work is based on the real life story of composer Jay Alan Zimmerman, and will be directed by Kristin McLaughlin, with choreography by Derek Roland and musical direction by Emily Otto.

Dee Roscioli, Allie Schulz, Joshua Davis, Adam Halpin, and Rachel Stern will star in Karen Bishko’s Therapy Rocks, about a cake-obsessed songwriter who finally finds love. The production is directed by Thomas Caruso.
