Eisa Davis, Colman Domingo, Suzan Lori-Parks et al. Set for The New Black Fest

Programming has been announced for The New Black Fest, to run October 9-17 in multiple locations. The festival aims to celebrate, advocate and showcase diverse and provocative work by Black theater artists from throughout the Diaspora.
Among the highlights is a program entitled “The New Black Music” to be seen at BRIC Arts | Media | Bklyn in Brooklyn, on Friday, October 15 at 7pm. Passing Strange co-stars Eisa Davis and Colman Domingo will both perform. Davis will be presenting new work, while Domingo — who is soon return to Broadway in the new musical The Scottsboro Boys — will be doing excerpts from his award-winning solo show, A Boy and His Soul. The program will also feature work by Jeremy Alan Richards and Celli Pitt.
Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Suzan-Lori Parks will join fellow panelists Kia Corthron, Monica L. Williams and Kenyon Farrow for “The New Black Conversation: Arts and Activism,” a roundtable discussion at the Julliard School of Drama on Sunday, October 10 at 1pm.
