Celina Cavajal, Donna Lynne Champlin, Luba Mason, Jason Michael Snow, Steve Rosen, Jim Walton and More Set for 2010 NYMF Events

Additional casting has been announced for several events in the 2010 New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF), which will run September 27-October 17. The festival will feature 27 musical productions, a developmental reading series and special events.

Luba Mason will join the previously reported Kerry Butler, Deidre Goodwin, James Patrick Stuart, and Tom McGowan in Pandora’s Box, featuring music and lyrics by Glen Roven, and a book by Maria S. Schlatter. The cast will also include Traci Blair, Cristy Candler, Mark Chmiel, Carolyn Doherty, Tina Johnson, Michael Ruocco, and Matthew Schechter.

If It Only Even Runs A Minute, featuring rare and inspiring songs, anecdotes, and photos from Broadway musicals that may not have been fully appreciated the first time around, will be presenting two different editions on October 14, created and produced by Jennifer Ashley Tepper and Kevin Michael Murphy, with musical direction by Caleb Hoyer. The 7pm show will feature Andrew Kober, Carrie Manolakos, Cortney Wolfson, Donna Lynne Champlin, Farah Alvin, Jesse Brickel, Kevin Michael Murphy, Marla Mindelle, Neva Rae Powers, Peter Link, Rachel Sussman, Tim Jerome, and Tim Shea. The 9:30pm show will star Blair Goldberg, Caleb Hoyer, James Dybas, Jason Michael Snow, Jesse Brickel, Jim Wann, John Jeffrey Martin, Katie Schorr, Kenita Miller, Kristen da Costa, Marty Thomas, Nancy Ringham, Natali Hinds, Patti Murin Holbrook, and Sarah Shahinian.

Tony-Award winner Ted Sperling will direct V-Day, with book, music, and lyrics by David Rossmer and Steve Rosen. The piece is about a man who hates Valentine’s Day, and has been robbed of everything except a Neil Diamond CD. Both authors star in the show, along with Sara Chase, Vadim Feichtner (also the show’s musical director), Hannah Sielatycki, and Danny Stone.

Featuring a book by Chip Zien, music by Deborah Abramson, and lyrics by Amanda Yasnowitz, The History of War focuses on a 12-year-old boy who conjures up seven of the most famous tyrants of all time, as he struggles with his homework. The cast will include Timothy Gulan, Sophie Hayden, Paul Kandel, Jason Kravits, William Michals, Andrew Pandaleon, Eric Poindexter, Herman Sebek, Robbie Tann, Jim Walton, and Michael D’Addario. Nick Corley will direct, with music direction by Brian Usifer, and choreography by Darren Lee.

In association with NYMF, Celina Cavajal, Colin Coyle, Sean Doyle, Raynal Reyes, Tara Novie, Hannah Corrigan, Kaitlin Doughty, and Sean Patton will star in Cocaine The Band, The Musical, about an iconic eighties quartet back from their 20 year cryogenic slumber, on October 1 and 2 only. David Alpert will direct, with musical direction by Paul Leschen and choreography by Danielle Hannah Bensky.

Andy Mientus, Michael Halling, Meggie Cansler, Jimmy Ray Bennett, William Ryall, Stanton Nash, Philip Chaffin, Tyler Merna, Dan Lawler, Evan Jay Newman, and Kathy McGrath will comprise the principal cast of SHINE! The Horatio Alger Musical, featuring a book by Richard Seff, music by Roger Dean Anderson, and lyrics by Lee Goldsmith. Peter Flynn will direct, with choreography by Devanand Janki.
