CBS To Continue Airing Tony Awards Through 2013

CBS has announced an agreement to continue broadcasting the Tony Awards through 2013, according to The New York Times.

The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing, which co-produce the awards, has not announced the specific date and venue for the 2011 awards; however, its longtime home, Radio City Music Hall, will not be available in June.

CBS has been broadcasting the ceremony since 1978. The 63rd Annual Tony Awards, which were held in 2009, won two Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Special Class Program. Last year’s Tony Awards were seen by approximately 7 million viewers.
