Broadway’s Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown Moves First Preview to October 8

The new Broadway musical Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, to be presented by Lincoln Center at the Belasco Theatre has postponed previews for a second time, with performances now set to begin on Friday, October 8. Tony Award winner Bartlett Sher will direct the production, which is still set to open officially on November 4.

Based on the film by Pedro Almodovar, the musical features a book by Jeffrey Lane, with music and lyrics by David Yazbek. The show is set in late 20th-century Madrid and tells the story of the intertwining lives of a group of women whose relationships with men lead to a tumultuous 48 hours of love, confusion, and passion.

As previously reported, the show will star de’Adre Aziza, Laura Benanti, Danny Burstein, Justin Guarini, Nikka Graff Lanzarone, Patti LuPone, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Mary Beth Peil, and Sherie Rene Scott.

The cast will also feature Julio Agustin, Alma Cuervo, John Carroll, Murphy Guyer, Rachel Bay Jones, Nina Lafarga, Yanira Marin, Sean McCort, Vivian Nixon, Luis Salgado, Jennifer Maria Sanchez, John Schiappa, Samantha Shafer, Phillip Spaeth, and Charlie Sutton.

The creative team will include Christopher Gattelli (choreography), Jim Abbott (musical direction), Michael Yeargan (sets), Catherine Zuber (costumes), Brian MacDevitt (lighting), and Scott Lehrer (sound).
