Ben Folds, Nick Hornby to Celebrate Lonely Avenue CD with October Benefit

Ben Folds and Nick Hornby will celebrate the September 28 release of the CD Lonely Avenue with a special event at Housing Works Bookstore Café in Soho on Tuesday, October 12.

The writers’ appearance at the store will raise money for Housing Works’ ongoing activities; it will also be taped be for broadcast on Sirius XM Book Radio (SIRIUS channel 117/XM channel 163) on November 5 and November 7 at 7pm.

During the event, Folds and Hornby will discuss the cross-pollination of music and literature, particularly as it relates to Lonely Avenue, which features 11 musical short stories feature music and vocals by Folds, lyrics by Hornby and string arrangements by Paul Buckmaster.

Folds is the founder of Ben Folds Five, and recently released Ben Folds Presents: University A Cappella!. Hornby’s best-know novel, High Fidelity was adapted into a musical by Tom Kitt, David Lindsay-Abaire and Amanda Green. His other works include About a Boy, How To Be Good, A Long Way Down, Slam, and Juliet, Naked.
