Valentina Kozlova and Leonid Kozlov Reunite for Legacy Gala Fundraiser

Former Bolshoi Ballet stars Valentina Kozlova and Leonid Kozlov will celebrate the 30th anniversary of their defection to the U.S. in The Legacy Gala, a one-night-only fundraising performance at Joyce Theater on November 23 at 7:30 pm. Margo Sappington will direct the event, which will raise funds for a new dance scholarship.

The Legacy Gala will mark the the first time the two, who also starred on Broadway in the 1982 revival of On Your Toes, have danced as partners in 15 years. Also on the program for event are Wendy Whelan and Philip Neal of New York City Ballet, Irina Dvorovenko and Maxim Beloserkovsky of American Ballet Theatre, and Larisa Ponomarenko of Boston Ballet.

Following the performance will be a Patron’s party at the Firebird Russian Restaurant.
