Shrek Competition Winners to Perform With Sutton Foster; Brian d’Arcy James and Daniel Breaker Set for Open House

The winners of Shrek the Musical‘s “Not Your Ordinary Princess” contest, hosted by Nick.com, have been announced.

Laura Laureano (age 14) from Ronkonkoma, New York has won the opportunity to play “Teen Fiona” and Hannah Beatt (age 9) from Sarasota, Florida has won the opportunity to play “Young Fiona” on Saturday, September 19, alongside Tony Award winner Sutton Foster, who plays Fiona, at the evening performance of the Broadway musical.

In related news, Brian d’Arcy James and Daniel Breaker, who play Shrek and Donkey (respectively) will participate in an open house at The Broadway Theatre on Saturday, September 12 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. as part of Back2Broadway Month. This event will be open to the public, and will also feature Maryann Chach, director of the Shubert Archive, who will discuss the history and architecture of the theater.

The show, which is based on the story and characters from William Steig’s book Shrek! as well as the DreamWorks Animation film, features book and lyrics by Pulitzer Prize-winner David Lindsay-Abaire, and music by Jeanine Tesori. Jason Moore directs, with choreography by Josh Prince.
