Richard Masur, Alice Playten Set for Flea's The Oldsmobiles

Richard Masur and Alice Playten have been cast in Roger Rosenblatt's The Oldsmobiles (October 1-November 14), which will be the first production of The Flea Theater's 2009-2010 season. In the play, to be directed by Jim Simpson, a couple questions whether or not life is still worth living.

As previously announced, the season will continue with an evening of short works by Thomas Bradshaw, Sheila Callaghan, Erin Courtney, Will Eno, Itamar Moses, and Adam Rapp, presented under the title The Great Recession (November 20-December 10), which will examine America's economic crisis.

In the new year, The Best of Edinburgh (January 4 -January 31) will come to the Flea, giving the winner of The Carol Tambor Award for the best new play in this year's Edinburgh Festival a New York run. Specific selections will be announced shortly.

The season will continue with Henri Becque's two-part play The Vultures (February 25-March 27), featuring a cast of 16 and directed by Simpson, followed by The Parents' Evening (April 16 -June 12) by Bathsheba Doran, about a mother and father who confront their conflicting views about parenting.
