Nathan Gunn, David Pittsinger, Susanna Phillips, et al. Set for Julie Taymor’s The Magic Flute

The Metropolitan Opera will present Tony Award winner Julie Taymor’s production of Mozart’s Die Zauberflote on September 23, 26, and 30, and returning April 1, 6, 8, 10, and 15.

The September run will be conducted by Bernard Labadie, and feature Susanne Phillips as Pamina, Erika Miklosa as the Queen of the Night, Matthias Klink as Tamino, Christopher Maltman as Papageno, David Pittsinger as the Speaker, and Georg Seppenfled as Sarastro.

The April performances will be conducted by Adam Fischer and Paul Nadler, and feature Julia Kleiter as Pamina, Albina Shagimuratova as The Queen of the Night, Matthew Polenzani as Tamino, Nathan Gunn and Rodion Pogossov as Papageno, and Hans-Peter Koning as Sarastro.

The production features choreography by Mark Dendy, sets by George Tsypin, costumes by Taymor, lighting by Donald Holder, and puppet design by Michael Curry.
