Master songwriters Benny Andersson and Bjorn Alvaeus have thrilled billions of listeners around the globe with their work for the supergroup ABBA (whose songs form the basis of the hit musical Mamma Mia!) and the much-beloved theater musical Chess. On September 23 and 24, their musical Kristina, about a group of Swedes who emigrate to America, gets in American premiere at a concert at Carnegie Hall, starring Helen Sjoholm, Russell Watson, Kevin Odekirk, and Louise Pitre. TheaterMania recently spoke to the two men about this remarkable undertaking.
