Geoffrey Rush to Star in The Drowsy Chaperone and Diary of a Madman

Geoffrey Rush, who won a Tony Award last season for his performance in Eugene Ionesco’s Exit the King, will star as Man in Chair in the Melbourne Theatre Company’s production of The Drowsy Chaperone in January 2010, as well as a revival of Gogol’s Diary of a Madman in Sydney, Australia as part of Company B’s 2010-2011 season.

Diary of a Madman will be helmed by Neil Armfeld, the company’s artistic director. The pair first worked together on the play for a 1989 production.

Rush is best known for his film work, including his Academy Award winning performance in Shine and The Pirates of the Caribbean movies.
