Scarlett Strallen and Adam Fiorentino will join the Broadway cast of Mary Poppins, in the roles of Mary Poppins and Bert, beginning October 9 at the New Amsterdam Theatre. They replace original Broadway cast members Ashley Brown and Gavin Lee, who will star in the show’s national tour.

The show, based on stories by P.L. Travers and the Oscar-winning 1964 Walt Disney film of the same title, is directed by Richard Eyre, with co-direction and choreography by Matthew Bourne and additional choreography by Stephen Mear. Mary Poppins has a book by Julian Fellows, and uses the original film score by Robert and Richard Sherman, augmented by new songs written by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe.

Brown and Lee play their final Broadway performance in the musical on Sunday, October 5, with understudies playing the roles of Mary and Bert for performances on October 7 and 8. The cast also features Daniel Jenkins (Mr. Banks), Rebecca Luker (Mrs. Banks), Jane Carr (Mrs. Brill), Ann Arvia (Bird Woman), Mark Price (Robertson Ay), Ruth Gottschall (Miss Andrew), and Jeff Steitzer (Admiral Boom).

Strallen previously played her role in the London West End production of Mary Poppins. She received an Olivier nomination for her work in HMS Pinafore and appeared in the original London productions of Mamma Mia! and The Witches of Eastwick. Fiorentino appeared in the Australian productions of The Boy from Oz and Saturday Night Fever, as well as the West End production of the latter.
